Two injured in crash involving Waltham police cruiser

The cause of the crash remains under investigation

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash involving a police cruiser in Waltham, Massachusetts, on Wednesday morning.

Waltham police said the crash occurred around 8:25 a.m. at the intersection of Totten Pond Road and Third Avenue. The drivers of both vehicles were hospitalized with what police said appeared to be minor injuries.

Aerial video footage showed a Waltham police SUV on its side in the middle of the street. A black car was located a short distance away.

Multiple fire and police vehicles responded to the scene and a section of the road appeared to have been shut down.

Waltham police said they are still on scene and are continuing to investigate the crash. They said traffic will be impacted while their investigation is taking place, and advised motorists to seek alternate routes and expect delays.
